Employed parents caring for children with special health care needs often find the integration of work and family responsibilities very challenging. The strain of caring for a child with a disability is a common yet hidden problem that negatively impacts both employment and poverty rates. Employers offering greater flexibility in the workplace can help ease the strain for all families, particularly those caring for children with special health care needs.
