Biography:
Karol Rose has worked at the forefront of the work-life effectiveness field for over 25 years. She is the author of five books, including the reference guide: Work-Life Effectiveness: Programs, Policies and Practices, and recently, Work-Life Strategies: Bottom Line Strategies for Today’s Workforce (WorldatWork, 2006). She is the contributing editor for the FORTUNE magazine annual work-life and human capital special features. As a consultant Karol has guided major corporations such as MetLife, ABN-AMRO, FleetBoston, AVON, Morgan Stanley, Verizon, ConAgra, KPMG, General Motors, Lucent Technologies, Colgate and many others �" helping them create work-life strategies and ensure their success. She has been instrumental in guiding change processes in organizations by developing flexible work practices and designing educational experiences for HR and senior management to support the business goals of many Fortune 500 companies. She led the work-life practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers and TimeWarner Inc., and has been at the forefront of the creation of many ‘firsts’ in the work-life field, including developing one of the first on-site back up child care centers in the country. Karol and Dr. Sandy Burud consulted as a team (Rose&Burud), training HR and business leaders on the application of human capital ideas to work-life and flexibility with such clients as: Ingersoll-Rand, Goldman Sachs, GlaxoSmithKline and Lehman Brothers. Karol is a former member of the Board of Directors of AWLP, where she co-chaired the Innovative Excellence Awards initiative, the Conference Board Work-Life Leadership Council, and a member and 2002 Chapter President of The International Women’s Forum. Karol is a frequent speaker at major conferences, including the Working Mother Congress, the Conference Board Work-Life Conference, and the Society for Human Resource Professionals, on the faculty of WorldatWork, and is frequently quoted in national publications and business journals. She holds Masters and Masters of Education degrees in education and special education and has taught for NYU, Brooklyn College and Columbia University.
