Biography:
The Alfred P. Sloan Work and Family Research Network
Early Career Scholar, 2007-2008
Chris Morett is an assistant professor of sociology of Fordham University. Much of his current research focuses on the relationship between parental work schedules and child well-being. One project examines the effect of nonstandard work shifts on early child cognitive and behavioral development. A second project investigates how maternal work schedules influence child obesity via the mediating factors of diet and exercise. Finally, he is working on an analysis on the relationship between the length of maternity leave and child development, and whether any negative effects of short maternity leave are mitigated by father involvement and maternal scheduling flexibility.
Morett also organizes Work-Family Conversations at Fordham, an occasional lecture series in Manhattan featuring national leaders in the field of work-family and work-life. He was a 2007-2008 Sloan Work-Family Network Early Career Scholar.
