Back-up Child Care, Definition(s) of
"Back-up child care is a specialized type of child care that includes helping the whole family feel comfortable in a transitional environment.” (Bright Horizons, 2006)

“Backup services are available for employees when their primary or regular child care is unavailable, when schools are closed, during maturnity transition or when there is an increase in work demands. Back up child care enable s employers to provide a less expensive, high-impact service while receiving a significant return on investment.” (Spinks & Marvin, 2004)
