Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Definition(s) of
“Activities usually performed for oneself in the course of a normal day including bathing, dressing, grooming, eating, walking, using the telephone, taking medications, and other personal care activities" (Department of Health and Human Services).

"The self-care tasks which are used to measure the Functional Impairment Level of an applicant or a client for home care services include the ability to bathe, dress and undress, eat, toilet, transfer in and out of a bed or chair, get around inside one's own home, and maintain continence" (Bookman, Harrington, Pass & Reisner).
