Casey: Jennifer, how did you get interested in studying the differences between generations at the workplace?
Deal: I actually started out having no interest in the topic at all! I thought it was much ado about nothing; in my opinion, age is much less important than what you can do and how well you do it. However, a friend of mine at work was on a team that was examining this question, and she asked me to attend a group meeting, as there was no researcher in the group and they needed one.

Malta is a small island state located to the south of Sicily in the Mediterranean sea. It occupies an area of 316 square kilometers with a population of 408,000.
“Family friendly measures” have become buzz words in Maltese society. However, a close look at the female employment rates and the national birth rates may give an indication that the reconciliation of work with family continues to be elusive to great number of families. Both the female employment rate of 38.6% and the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of 1.4, are below the EU average.

| LITERATURE UPDATES |
The Sloan Work and Family Research Network maintains an online database which contains the citations and annotations of work-family research publications.
One year ago, there were 9,300 citations in the Literature Database. As of February 2009, we now have over 10,320 citations.
Each month, we highlight up to ten publications that have recently been entered into this database.
