Sloan Network Updates and Reminders

There are two new Bill Clusters available on the site: Low Wage Asset Building and Shift Work.

Sandee Shulkin has received the annual Internship Award from the Family Policy division of the National Council on Family Relations.  She will be presented with the award at the NCFR conference in November.

Judi Casey gave a virtual tour of the Sloan Network at the Employee Assistance Professionals Association's 2006 Annual World EAP Conference in Nashville, TN, on October 7.

Be sure to keep checking “What’s New in Work and Family” for the latest work and family links. Here are two recent announcements:

Robert Pear of the New York Times reports on a study done by Suzanne Bianchi and other sociologists at the University of Maryland on the amount of time working men and women spend with their children. The findings are detailed in a new book, Changing Rhythyms of American Family Life.

Business Week Online talks with retirees from several fields who want to continue working after retirement and lists five industries that already face or expect to face employee shortages in coming years, making them good bets for older workers.

Judi, Karen, Marcie, Tina, and Sandee
