National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies 2007 Annual Policy Symposium

Deadline for Submission: September 22, 2006

The conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, DC on February 25-March 3rd, 2007. "Proposals should fit within the following content areas: creating sustainable models for funding quality child care, promoting quality in all settings, creating sustainable, diverse, and effective CCR & Rs, and meeting the changing needs of families."

Reviewers needed for special issue of Gender, Work and Organization

Abigail Gregory and Sue Milner are editing a special issue of Gender, Work and Organization on work-life balance and are looking for people to review one or two articles over the next six weeks. There is no payment for this service, but the journal recognizes reviewers at the end of each year.

Special Issue: Gender, Work and Organization

Theme: “Women and Men in Management: Issues for the 21st Century”

Deadline for Submission: September 30, 2006

Possible subjects include: “The gender structuring of management and organisations; issues in managerial career development; leadership issues; the role of gender in the way managers conduct themselves; gender mainstreaming, and the presence, absence and development of policies (formal and informal) on gender; alternative forms of working at managerial levels; international comparisons of women and men in management; managerial diversity and employment; managerial cultures.” Please submit papers of approximately 7,000 words, and include a summary and three to five keywords.

Global Perspectives- Call for Abstracts: British Sociological Association Annual Conference 2007

Theme: "Social Connections: Identities, Technologies, Relationships"

Deadline for Submission: September 30, 2006

The conference will take place at the University of East London, London, England, on April 12-14th, 2007. " The overarching theme invites engagement with a wide range of contemporary sociological concerns. The title 'social connections' frames a series of debates around identities, technologies and relationships, which also encompass the diversity of research interests within the discipline. A key element of the conference will be to explore how technologies are an integral part of the sociological imagination. "

Global Perspectives- Call for Papers and Stream Leaders: Gender, Work and Organization 5th International Interdisciplinary Conference
Deadline for Submission: November 1, 2006

The conference will take place at Keele University, Stratforshire, England on June 27th-29th, 2007. "Proposals for the World Congress may include: (1) individual or coauthored papers; (2) entire sessions of 4 papers; (3) roundtables of 4-5 persons on a particular topic; and (4) pedagogical sessions on teaching in the social economics tradition. The editors of the two journals of the Association—Review of Social Economy and Forum for Social Economics—are especially interested in papers suitable for publication. There will be no formal discussant assigned to papers/sessions. Instead, we encourage participation and discussion among the panelists and participants. We encourage historical, theoretical, empirical, and policy papers. We are particularly interested in research that explicitly articulates a particular framework of social values. Five broad areas for exploring the theme of social values and economic life include: (1) family and community relationships; (2) the workplace and its social organization; (3) the social nature of market relationships; (4) macroeconomic social policy issues; and (5) economic methodology and the history of economic thought."

Global Perspectives- Call for Papers: Twelfth World Congress of Social Economics

Theme: "Social Values and Economic Life"
Deadline for Submission: January 31, 2007

The conference will take place at the University of Amsterdam on June 8-10, 2007. Possible topics include: “The concept of 'career', gender and friendship, professionalism and professional identity, feminist theory, methodology, ethics and organizations, colonialism in organizations, complexity and diversity in the workplace, sexualities in organization, men and masculinities, identity and subjectivity, power and resistance, home/tele working, gender and technologies, alternative organization, management, managers and management practice, eroticism and embodiment, romance, love and organization, new managerialism, harassment and discrimination, race and ethnicity, social exclusion, intimacy and organization.” Please submit paper abstracts of no more than 500 words.
